View the configuration activity log

When working with Creatio configuration, you might need to find out which configuration elements were changed, who changed them, and when. For example, you can check what changed in an object after it was updated. Creatio registers configuration operations in the Configuration activity log section and lets you compare element versions directly on the record page.

note

Creatio can compare element versions only if the "Save schema files snapshot" (SaveSchemaFilesSnapshot code) system setting is turned on. The setting is turned on out of the box.

Open the log

  1. Click btn_system_designer.png to open the System Designer.

  2. Go to the System setup block → Configuration activity log.

  3. Filter the log records. (Optional)

For example, use the Select period, Change made by, or Operation quick filter.

To display the child operations in the list, use the Show child operations quick filter.

  4. Open the needed record.

As a result, Creatio will open the record page that contains the operation details, for example, the element, its type, the operation, the operation status, and the user who made the change. Depending on the record, the page also includes the Related operations, Change details, Compilation details, or Localization details tab.

Compare element versions

The Change details tab is available for records whose Operation field is "Create" or "Update" and whose Type field is one of the following:

  • Addon
  • Application
  • Business-process
  • Client module
  • Creatio.ai agent
  • Data
  • Object
  • Package
  • Source code
  • User task

To compare element versions:

  1. Open the record of the needed operation.

  2. Go to the Change details tab.

  3. Select the content to compare in the Compare Content list: "Source code," "Metadata," or "Descriptor." Then select the file if the element has several files of the selected content type.

  4. Select the view mode: Side-by-side or Unified.

If the record has no previous version of the element, the tab displays only the current version, and the view modes are not available. The tab displays one of the following messages instead of the previous version:

    • "No previous version." The element was created by this operation.
    • "No previous version because it was deleted during old log cleanup." The log record that contained the previous version was deleted during the log cleanup.
  5. Select the Compact unchanged blocks checkbox to hide unchanged lines. (Optional)

  6. Navigate between changes using the Previous change and Next change buttons in the file header.

As a result, the Change details tab will display the previous and current versions of the element file and highlight the added, removed, and modified lines. If the record has no comparable files, the tab displays the "No files to compare" message.
