Content Designer

Use the Content Designer to create templates for common and bulk emails. There are several ways you can open the Content Designer:

  • From the bulk email page (in bpm’online marketing and CRM-bundle). For this, open a corresponding record in the [Email] section and click the [Edit] button in the [Template] detail of the mailing page.

  • From the email template page. To do this:

a.Open the System Designer by clicking btn_system_designer.png in the top right corner of the application.

b.Click the [Lookups] link, in the [System setup] block.

Note

You can open the [Lookups] section only if you have permission to perform the [Access to “Configuration“ section] system operation.

c.In the lookups list, select the [Email templates] lookup and click the [Open] button.

Note

If you have access to the “Studio” workplace, you can reach the [Email templates] lookup in one click.

d.Select the required template and open its page.

e.On the email template page, click the [Edit] button.

  • When working in the Process Designer, you can access the Content Designer from the [Send email] business process element setup area:

  • When setting up sending custom messages, click the btn_chapter_content_designer_htlm_element_edit.png button in the email body preview area.

  • When setting up sending template messages, click the btn_com_calendar_edit_window.png button to the right from the selected template name.

The Content Designer consists of three general areas (Fig. 1):

  • Block library (1) displays a list of content blocks that can be added on the email template. The blocks can contain images and text elements in different styles. All the pre-configured blocks are stored in the [Content blocks library] lookup.

  • The working area (2) is where the content of the page is created.

  • Setup area (3). In this area, you can change the settings of a content block, such as alignment, indents, corner radius, background and borders. Some settings are unique to different types of email content elements. For example, for images you can specify exact dimensions, alternative text and set up the display of different images for desktops and mobile devices in the same block. Select a block on the working area to access its properties in the setup area.

By default the block library includes a set of content blocks with the following base content elements:

  • Text element – used for adding text information.

  • Image – used for adding graphics. Images can be clickable, e.g., a promo banner.

  • Button – is simultaneously a call to action and tool of performing the action. Buttons will be displayed for email recipients even if images are disabled in the email client settings.

  • Separator – used to distinguish elements within the same content block.

  • HTML element – used to create a web-page with a custom HTML markup or to implement an element that is not available in the content library.

Note

The [HTML element] block is a means of implementing custom HTML code in your templates. It is intended for use by HTML-savvy users who are familiar with web design and can code their custom designs in HTML. Please note that your custom code will be directly added to the template (without any automatic debugging, warnings, etc.) When using the [HTML element] block, please make sure that you test results outside the content designer preview, for example, by sending a test email.
