Migrate mailboxes between Exchange (EWS) and Microsoft 365 (Graph API)
The migration tool is available as an installable package in Creatio 8.3.4. Download.
You can move mailboxes from the legacy Exchange Web Services (EWS) connection to the modern Microsoft 365 Graph API connection, or in reverse. It is possible to migrate one or more mailboxes in a single action. Creatio only changes how each mailbox connects to your mail service, without deleting or re-creating anything.
Migration changes only the connection method. It does not delete or re-create the mailbox and does not affect your data. Emails, calendar items, and their links to contacts, accounts, activities, and cases remain intact. Synchronization settings are preserved and resume automatically after migration.
To access the migration workspace, you need the permission to the "Email providers list setup" (CanManageMailServers code) system operation. Learn more: System operation permissions.
Only mailboxes that use Microsoft 365 (Graph API) or Exchange / Office 365 (EWS) can be migrated. Mailboxes on other mail services do not appear in the tool. Some mailboxes might require a one-time re-sign-in immediately after migration. If a mailbox displays a reconnection prompt, re-authorize it from the mailbox settings.
To migrate a mailbox:
-
Open the Mailbox list section.
-
Select a value in the Current mail service filter to narrow the list to the mailboxes you want to migrate.
-
Select the target mail service in the Target mail service field, for example, "Microsoft 365 (Graph API)."
-
Click Set as target server.
The Migrate selected mailboxes button remains disabled until the saved target matches your selection.
-
Select the checkboxes next to the mailboxes you want to migrate. You can select one, multiple, or all mailboxes shown.
-
Click Migrate selected mailboxes.
As a result, each selected mailbox will connect through the new mail service and continue working as before. Synchronized emails, calendar items, and their links to records will remain intact. Synchronization resumes automatically for mailboxes that had it enabled. Mailboxes that had synchronization disabled remain off. The migration is reversible — you can repeat the procedure to switch back at any time.
