Import a skill
Instead of authoring a skill file by file, you can import a complete skill bundle into your library. Import is the fastest way to move a skill between environments, to reuse a skill an external author shared with you, or to restore a skill you exported earlier.
Creatio AI Studio imports skills from a file you upload and from the vendor registry of bundled, vendor-managed skills.
A skill you import from a file is created in the Personal scope. A skill you import from the vendor registry is added as a read-only Enterprise skill, shared across the organization. To share a file-imported skill with the organization, create an enterprise skill and rebuild the bundle there. Learn more: Personal and Enterprise agents.
Supported import formats
Creatio AI Studio detects the format automatically from the uploaded file. A standalone "SKILL.md" file must be 4 MB or smaller, and each file inside an archive must be 512 KB or smaller.
Format | Description |
|---|---|
Creatio format (*.zip) | An archive that contains a "manifest.json" file alongside the bundle files. Preserves the Creatio-specific metadata, such as the owner, tags, compatibility, and execution pattern. Creatio AI Studio can import this format but does not produce it — the Export action always writes an Agent Skills format archive. |
Agent Skills format (*.zip) | An archive that follows the agentskills.io standard. Contains a "SKILL.md" file with YAML frontmatter, either at the root of the archive or inside a single named folder, for example, |
Standalone "SKILL.md" (*.md) | A single Markdown file with YAML frontmatter. Imports the instructions without any |
An archive that contains neither a "manifest.json" file nor a "SKILL.md" file is rejected. The frontmatter description value must be a real description — an archive that still carries the default placeholder text is rejected as well.
Import a skill from a file
- Go to the Skills section in the navigation panel.
- Click Import skill → Import from file.
- Select the archive or the Markdown file to upload. Supported extensions: *.zip and *.md.
As a result, Creatio AI Studio creates the skill, loads every file of the bundle as the initial draft version, and opens the skill for editing. If a skill with the same technical name already exists in your library, Creatio AI Studio opens the conflict dialog instead. A "SKILL.md" file can have up to 21,856 characters, including the frontmatter. To import a longer skill, move the details into files in the references/ folder and link to them from "SKILL.md." Then import the skill as a *.zip archive.
Resolve an import conflict
Skill names are unique within an organization. When the imported name is already taken, Creatio AI Studio opens a conflict dialog. Its title quotes the technical name of the skill being imported, for example, "meeting-follow-up" already exists.
-
Select the resolution for the conflict.

Replace existing skill
The result depends on whether the existing skill has a published version.
If it does, Creatio AI Studio adds the imported content as a new draft version. Earlier published versions stay intact, and agents pinned to them are unaffected.
If the skill has never been published, Creatio AI Studio overwrites the existing draft in place instead of adding a version. The Versions tab keeps showing a single version, and the imported bundle replaces the current one completely — files that exist only in the current draft are lost, and the display name resets to the technical name unless the imported "SKILL.md" file sets one.
Save with a new name
Imports the content as a separate skill under a different name. Type the name in the input below the option, which is empty and prompts you with "New skill name."
-
Click Import.
As a result, Creatio AI Studio applies the selected resolution and opens the resulting skill.
An archived skill cannot receive an imported draft version. Restore the skill first, or import it under a new name. A vendor-managed skill cannot be replaced through this flow either — import a new version from the vendor registry, or fork the vendor skill and edit the fork.
Import a skill from the vendor registry
The vendor registry holds bundled, vendor-managed skills you can add to your organization's library. It is available out of the box. Where an administrator has turned the registry off for your environment, the option does not appear in the Import skill menu.
The registry includes the following skills for working with Creatio data.
Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
Query Creatio records | Finds, filters, sorts, counts, and pages Creatio records, and answers totals and breakdowns. |
Search Creatio records by keywords | Finds records by keywords when the object that holds them is unknown. |
Create a Creatio record | Creates a record: gathers only the required fields, resolves lookup values, validates the input, and returns the record link. |
Update a Creatio record | Updates an existing record with only the changed fields and returns the record link. |
Analyze a Creatio record in its business context | Reads a record and its related records and summarizes them, separating retrieved facts from inference. |
Explore the Creatio data structure | Maps a concept to the right object, lists its columns, traces how two objects relate, and checks valid lookup values. |
Resolve a named scope through saved folders | Resolves a team, group, segment, or territory named in words through your saved folders and answers from the records the matching folder selects. |
Resolve reporting periods | Turns periods such as "this quarter," "last fiscal year," or "FY27" into explicit date windows from a definition you state or your organization's fiscal settings, and asks when neither is available. |
Trace stage transitions | Answers which stage a record was in before, where it came from, or which stage it was in when it closed, from the record's stage history, and says when the history is incomplete. |
Creatio date and time handling | Interprets dates such as "tomorrow 10am" or "end of next month" and turns them into the values Creatio expects in filters and fields. |
Date & time interpretation | Calculates dates with the built-in date tools, for example, the weekday of a date or the number of days between two dates. |
Except for Date & time interpretation, which uses the built-in date tools, these skills need an agent that has the tools of the Creatio integration enabled on its Integrations tab.

Meaning
Import vendor skill
No copy is in your organization's library yet.
Update vendor skill
A copy is attached and a newer bundled version is available. The skill is marked with the "Update available" badge.
Imported
A copy is attached and already at the latest bundled version. The button is disabled — there is nothing to import.
As a result, Creatio AI Studio adds a vendor-managed copy of the skill to your library as a published Enterprise skill and marks it with the "Vendor" badge.
Vendor skills are read-only. To make organization-specific changes, click Fork draft on the skill. A fork keeps its content when the vendor skill is updated.
Publish and attach the imported skill
A skill imported from a file arrives as a draft and cannot be attached to an agent until it is published. A vendor skill arrives published, so skip steps 2–4 and attach it right away.
- Open the imported skill from the Skills list.
- Review the bundle in the Files panel and the frontmatter on the Skill tab. Adjust the Description field if the imported wording does not match how your agents should select the skill.
- Click Run checks and resolve every error reported in the Check issues panel.
- Click Publish in the top right.
- Open the prompt agent, go to the Skills tab on the Build tab, select the skill in the Attach skill field, and click Attach.
As a result, the agent can use the imported skill at runtime.
Export a skill
Export produces the archive that the import flow consumes, which lets you move a skill between environments or share it with an external author. Creatio AI Studio exports the selected version as an Agent Skills format archive.
- Open the skill from the Skills list.
- Select the version to export in the version selector.
- Click Export.
- Confirm the export if Creatio AI Studio asks whether to export without a license. This prompt appears only when the License field is empty.
As a result, Creatio AI Studio downloads the archive.
To avoid the license prompt, set the License field in the Spec fields section of the Advanced tab before you export. A skill that already has a license exports immediately, with no prompt.
