Items used in the campaign workflow
The campaign workflows in bpm’online marketing are created using a visual designer. The campaign workflows consist of campaign items and transitions between them.
To add an item, select it from the [Tools] block of the designer, press and hold the left mouse button, then drag and drop the item into the campaign area.
To delete an item, select it and press the [Delete] button.

Each campaign workflow begins with a start item. These items are used to generate the list of campaign participants. You can include only one of two start items in the workflow.
— the "Audience" item. You can add campaign participants in two ways when selecting the "Audience" start item:
1.Automatically, by connecting the "Audience" to the required folder in the [Contacts] section. The audience constantly changes. For example, if you set up the campaign and then edit the folder in the [Contacts] section, the campaign audience will be generated based on the changes made.
Moreover, you can use this method to generate the audience for trigger campaigns. The contacts that appear in a particular segment after the campaign start will become its participants.
Note
When forming an audience from a group in the "Audience" item properties area, the list of participants will be displayed on the [Participants] tab only after the campaign has been launched.
2.Manually, on the [Participants] tab. You can select contact folders or separate participants. When adding the audience manually, the audience is static.
In addition:
•If the "Audience" item is followed by a trigger letter, you can edit the audience after the campaign starts.
•If the "Audience" item is followed by a bulk email, you can not edit the audience after the campaign starts.
— the "Landing page" item. When selecting this start item, the campaign audience is filled in automatically. The audience is formed with the contacts that are added by a visitor filling in the registration form on a landing page. To use the "Landing" item, create and set up landing pages in the [Landings] section and select the [Create contact] checkbox.
Note
If the landing pages are set in bpm’online marketing, the leads are generated automatically when visitors fill in the registration form on your website. The contacts are created automatically in case a lead was registered via a landing page with the [Create contact] checkbox selected.
Use communication items to broadcast information messages to campaign participants. In bpm’online marketing, campaign items that provide communication with the customers are connected to the required records in the corresponding system sections, for example, bulk emails or events.
— the "Bulk email" item. You can connect this item to a bulk email or trigger email that has been previously added to the [Email] section.
A "Bulk email" category can be included in the campaign only if the bulk email page contains a specific time to automatically start sending bulk email.
— the "Event" element. You can connect this item to the record in the [Events] section.
— the "New lead" item. This item allows you to add leads automatically for the contacts who move to the "New lead" step. For example, you can create the transition from the bulk email, containing information about the system for marketing automation, to the "New lead" item in terms of the campaign.
You can setup the properties of this item so that the fields of the added leads pages are automatically filled in with the required values. For example, specify the "Marketing management system" need type in the "New lead" item properties.
Note
The "New lead" item can not be placed on the campaign workflow just after the start item or just before the final one.
The final items are used to finalize a campaign and analyze its results. The final items are displayed on the campaign workflow by default and can not be deleted.
— the "Reached the target" item. Use this item for the contacts who have gone through the campaign workflow successfully. The campaign participants can move to this item in the following cases:
1.As a result of sequential campaign steps.
2.Ahead of schedule, if the condition is fulfilled at one of the steps and the "Reached the target" item becomes active.
At least one transition should lead to this item. The values of the indicators displayed in the upper part of the campaign page are calculated based on the number of contacts who have reached the "Reached the target" step or the step just before it.
— the "Exited the campaign" item. The participants can move to this step in two ways:
1.The transition conditions are not fulfilled at one of the step while moving to another. If the transition condition for the "Reached the target" item is not fulfilled at the last step.
2.Ahead of schedule, if the condition is fulfilled at one of the steps and the "Exited the campaign" item becomes active.
Based on the campaign results, you can then segment your contacts base.
