How to set an unsubscription function from your bulk emails
Add an unsubscription link into each email that will be sent to the recipients. It is important for keeping your account reputation on Mandrill server. The link should be easy to use and easy to see. If the recipients are not able to see such a link, they can make a complaint on your letter (mark as spam) that can lead to the situation when all the letters from this bulk email will be sent to spam with the current mail provider.
After clicking the unsubscription link, the recipient will be forwarded to the URL of the unsubscription page that you have generated. Before that the recipient will be automatically forwarded to bpm’online marketing server, where the information about the unsubscription will be fixed.
To set the unsubscription function, perform several steps:
• Generate an unsubscription page on your website.
• Specify the unsubscription page address in the “Website to redirect unsubscribed” system setting. For example, “http://www.mysite.com/act/unsubscribe/”. The setting can be found in the “Emails sending” folder of the [System settings] section.
• Use the unsubscription link in all your templates.
Use the content designer to add the unsubscription link into the email template. Use the [Edit] button of the [Email templates] lookup or Email page to open the content designer.
1. Open the required email template in the content designer.
2. In the working area of the designer, click on the text from the template.
3. In the displayed toolbox, click the button and select one of the unsubscription macros:
• Use the “URL” option to add the unsubscription function as a direct link on the unsubscription page. For example, “http://www.mysite.com/act/unsubscribe”;
• Use the “Link” option to add the unsubscription link that will be displayed in the text format for the recipient. For example, “Unsubscribe from bulk email”.
4. Save the template.
In the process of sending emails using the template, the unsubscription macros will be converted into unsubscription page link. For example, “http://www.mysite.com/act/unsubscribe”/.
