Application management overview

Financial institutions process a wide range of customer requests — from loan applications to deposit account openings. Without a structured approach, managing these requests across different product lines and teams becomes inconsistent, difficult to audit, and hard to scale.

Creatio addresses this with a unified application management solution that covers the full lifecycle of a customer request — from initial data collection to final settlement or closure. A common application model across all product types ensures consistent data collection, role-based access, configurable automation, and full auditability of decisions — regardless of the product category or organizational structure.

Application lifecycle

Each application in Creatio follows a structured lifecycle that enforces a consistent sequence of steps. This structure ensures that no required action is skipped, all data is captured at the right stage, and every decision is recorded for audit purposes.

The lifecycle includes:

  • Application creation and data collection. A new application record is created in the system, and a dedicated application form is generated as a separate entity to capture and structure the customer's personal and financial data.
  • Evaluation and validation of customer, product, and financial information. The customer service representative (CSR) selects the appropriate product based on customer needs and eligibility criteria, uploads and links required documents to the application, and Creatio validates data completeness and applies business and compliance rules.
  • Underwriting and risk assessment (for lending applications). Lending applications proceed through risk evaluation, scoring models, approval hierarchies, and formal decision recording.
  • Agreement signing and confirmation. Creatio generates contractual documents based on approved parameters and finalizes them through signing and confirmation procedures.
  • Settlement, disbursement, or account activation. Creatio disburses funds for loan products or activates accounts for deposit products in accordance with approved conditions.
  • Closure of completed or declined applications. Creatio finalizes the application with a recorded outcome, ensuring full traceability and auditability of decisions.

The exact sequence of stages depends on the application type and product configuration. This approach allows financial institutions to standardize governance while adapting to different product requirements.

Application pages

Creatio uses the following types of application pages, each designed for a different phase of the application lifecycle.

  • The Application submission page is used during active data collection stages. It provides a guided, step-by-step experience that focuses the CSR on the current stage, reducing errors and ensuring all required information is captured before the application moves forward.

  • The Application full page is used once data collection is complete — primarily during underwriting, review, and post-closure stages. It provides a comprehensive view of all application data and related records in one place, giving analysts and underwriters the full context needed for evaluation and decision-making.

Stage navigation

Stage progression in Creatio is controlled rather than freeform. Users advance through application stages using contextual navigation buttons — Previous stage, Next stage, Submit, and Complete — which appear based on the current stage and application status. This prevents out-of-sequence actions and ensures that required validations are completed before the application moves forward.

The allowed stage sequence is defined per product category and can be configured to support custom workflows without modifying the core platform.

Preconfigured application workflows

Creatio includes preconfigured application workflows for selected product categories. Other categories — such as insurance products, investment and retirement accounts, or treasury management services — can be supported by configuring custom application workflows using the same application management approach.

Loan applications

Loan products involve credit risk assessment, financial evaluation, and often collateral management. Creatio supports a broad range of lending products through configurable workflows that incorporate underwriting logic, approval hierarchies, and compliance controls.

Creatio provides preconfigured application workflows for the most widely adopted retail lending products across global markets. These standardized flows serve as a foundation and can be extended or adapted to meet region-specific regulatory and product requirements.

Preconfigured loan application workflows include:

  • credit card loan applications
  • line of credit applications
  • unsecured personal loan applications
  • auto loan applications

Additional lending products — such as secured personal loans, student loans, mortgage loans, home equity products, and commercial lending — require configuration adjustments depending on regional regulations, underwriting models, and organizational policies. Creatio's flexible application approach enables institutions to design and localize these workflows without modifying the base functionality.

Deposit applications

Deposit products focus on customer onboarding, regulatory compliance, and account activation. While they do not require underwriting in the traditional lending sense, they demand strict adherence to identification, verification, and product parameter rules.

Creatio provides preconfigured onboarding workflows for the most common retail deposit products:

  • savings account applications
  • checking account applications
  • certificate of deposit applications

Other deposit products or market-specific variations can be configured using the same application management approach to meet local compliance and product requirements.
